About University of Turin
Founded in 1404 by Prince Ludovico of Achaea and sanctioned by the papal bull of Antipope Benedict XIII, the University of Turin (Università degli Studi di Torino - UniTO) is one of Europe's oldest, largest, and most prestigious public research universities. Hosting over 80,000 enrolled students and 4,000 academic and research staff across 27 departments and 13 major schools, UniTO represents the intellectual and scientific nucleus of Piedmont and Northwestern Italy. Tracing six centuries of scholarly distinction, the university boasts an extraordinary alumni lineage that includes Nobel Laureates Salvatore Luria (Medicine), Renato Dulbecco (Medicine), and Rita Levi-Montalcini (Medicine), Italian philosopher and semiotician Umberto Eco, statesmen Luigi Einaudi and Antonio Gramsci, and renowned writers Primo Levi and Italo Calvino. Anchored by the world-renowned Norman Foster-designed Campus Luigi Einaudi (CLE)—named by CNN among the world's top ten most spectacular university complexes—alongside historic Baroque palaces across Turin, UniTO is a founding leader of the UNITA - Universitas Montium European University Alliance, offering over 200 accredited degree programs with more than 30 degrees taught entirely in English across Biotechnology, Medicine, Economics, Law, Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainable Agriculture.
