About University of Tartu
The University of Tartu (Tartu Ülikool - UT), established in 1632 by King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden as Academia Gustaviana, is Estonia’s oldest, largest, and highest-ranked university, ranking in the top 1% of the world’s most-cited research universities. As the national university of Estonia, UT serves over 14,000 students (including 1,800+ international students from over 100 countries) across four major faculties: Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Medicine, and Science and Technology, alongside specialized regional colleges in Narva, Pärnu, and Viljandi.
