About University of Surrey
The University of Surrey is a leading public research university situated in Guildford, Surrey, England, approximately 30–35 minutes southwest of central London by rail. Tracing its roots back to the Battersea Polytechnic Institute established in 1891 (which received its Royal Charter as an independent university in 1966), Surrey is globally acclaimed for its exceptional graduate employability, industry-integrated Professional Training sandwich placements, and world-class research facilities. Surrey Space Centre (SSC) and its pioneering spinoff Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) catalyzed the modern small satellite industry, while the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP) and the 5G/6G Innovation Centre spearhead international advances in artificial intelligence, computer vision, and next-generation telecommunications. Surrey is also home to the premier School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (consistently ranked in the world's top 3), the renowned Guildford School of Acting (GSA), the multi-million-pound School of Veterinary Medicine at Manor Park, and the UK's unique Tonmeister Music and Sound Recording degree.
