About University of Padua
Founded in 1222 by students and professors seeking complete intellectual freedom, the University of Padua (Università degli Studi di Padova - UNIPD) is one of the world's oldest and most prestigious public research universities. Famed as the academic home where Galileo Galilei taught for 18 years ("the best 18 years of my life"), where Nicolaus Copernicus studied, and where Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia became the first woman in history to receive an academic degree in 1678, UNIBO/UNIPD stands as a monumental beacon of human knowledge. Spread across historic Palazzo Bo, the Portello technology district, the Agripolis veterinary and agro-science campus in Legnaro, and centers in Vicenza and Treviso, UNIPD educates over 70,000 students across 8 schools and 32 departments, offering over 70 degree programmes entirely in English.
