About University of Dundee
The University of Dundee is an internationally acclaimed public research university located on the picturesque north bank of the Firth of Tay in Dundee, Scotland. Tracing its academic origins to the founding of University College, Dundee in 1881 through the philanthropic vision of the Baxter family, the institution operated as a distinguished constituent college of the University of St Andrews for decades before being granted full university independence by Royal Charter on August 1, 1967. Renowned globally for breakthrough research in life sciences, drug discovery, medicine, dentistry, and creative arts, Dundee is consistently ranked among the top 35 universities in the United Kingdom. Dundee's academic structure comprises four major faculties: the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (home to the world-renowned Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design and Dundee Law School); the Faculty of Health (encompassing Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing); the Faculty of Life Sciences (celebrated for top UK research impact in cancer research, immunology, and targeted protein degradation); and the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Business (incorporating Computing, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and Dundee Business School). Across its compact West End City Campus, the clinical teaching powerhouse at Ninewells Hospital Campus, and the specialized nursing facility at Kirkcaldy Campus in Fife, Dundee provides state-of-the-art facilities including the iconic Tower Building, Dalhousie Lecture Complex, Queen Mother Computing Building, Discovery Centre, and DUSA (consistently voted the number one students' union in Scotland). With more than 17,000 students representing over 140 countries, dedicated Vice-Chancellor's and Global Excellence Scholarships, and a supportive coastal university community, the University of Dundee delivers life-changing education and high graduate employability.
