About University of Aberdeen
The University of Aberdeen is an ancient public research university in Aberdeen, Scotland. Founded in 1495 by William Elphinstone, Bishop of Aberdeen and Chancellor of Scotland, under a papal bull issued by Pope Alexander VI, it is Scotland's third-oldest university and the fifth-oldest in the English-speaking world. Aberdeen has been associated with five Nobel Laureates and pioneering breakthroughs including the development of diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), discovery of insulin pathways (J.J.R. Macleod), and vitamins research. Today, Aberdeen educates over 15,500 students from 130+ countries across its historic King's College campus in Old Aberdeen and the Foresterhill Health Campus—one of Europe's largest integrated medical research and clinical healthcare complexes.
