About University College Dublin
University College Dublin (UCD), founded in 1854 by Cardinal John Henry Newman as the Catholic University of Ireland and a premier constituent university of the National University of Ireland, is Ireland’s largest, most globally engaged, and most dynamic research university. Ranked #126 in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2025 and consistently ranked #1 in Ireland for Graduate Employability for six consecutive years (top 80 worldwide), UCD educates over 38,000 students from more than 150 nations. The university's magnificent main campus at Belfield spans 133 hectares (330 acres) of scenic parklands, lakes, and woodland walks just four kilometres south of Dublin city centre, hosting the €300m UCD O'Brien Centre for Science, the Sutherland School of Law, the Lochlann Quinn School of Business, the Newman Building for Arts and Humanities, and Ireland's only School of Veterinary Medicine. UCD's dedicated postgraduate business campus in coastal Blackrock houses the internationally celebrated, triple-accredited (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS) UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. With celebrated alumni including James Joyce, five Irish Taoisigh (Prime Ministers), three Irish Presidents, and international business leaders, UCD offers unparalleled academic breadth, global research partnerships, and immediate access to Ireland's Third Level Graduate Scheme (Stamp 1G) post-study work rights in the technology and financial capital of Europe.
