About Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), established in 1969 as Malaysia's second university, is the nation's sole institution awarded the prestigious APEX (Accelerated Programme for Excellence) status by the Ministry of Higher Education. Ranked #146 in the QS World University Rankings 2025/2026 (#2 in Malaysia) and celebrated globally as #1 in Asia and #4 worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), USM is a pioneering research powerhouse. Spanning four specialized campuses—the picturesque 590-acre Minden Main Campus on Penang Island, the Engineering Campus in Nibong Tebal, the Health & Medical Campus with Hospital USM in Kubang Kerian, and the Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (IPPT) in Bertam—USM offers an expansive array of over 400 undergraduate and graduate degrees. Operating on a distinctive interdisciplinary 'School' model rather than traditional rigid faculties, USM is renowned for its cutting-edge research in Computer Sciences, Aerospace Engineering, Molecular Medicine, Pharmacy, and Sustainability Sciences, educating over 32,000 students from more than 80 nations.
