About Université Bourgogne Europe
Université Bourgogne Europe (UBE)—historically known as Université de Bourgogne (University of Burgundy)—is an acclaimed, multidisciplinary public research university established in 1722 under the royal letters patent of King Louis XV in the historic capital of Dijon. Reorganized in 2024–2025 under an enhanced European statutes model as Université Bourgogne Europe, the institution anchors higher education and innovation across the entire Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. Educating over 35,000 students including nearly 4,000 international scholars across six territorial campus centers—Dijon Montmuzard, Chalon-sur-Saône, Le Creusot, Nevers, Auxerre, and Mâcon—UBE is renowned for offering outstanding academic programs that blend intellectual rigor with exceptional regional affordability. Uniquely supportive of international students, UBE waives differentiated non-EU fees across standard university tracks, allowing global scholars to pay standard French national public tuition rates (€175/year for Bachelor, €250/year for Master, and €380/year for PhD). As a founding pillar of the FORTHEM European University Alliance alongside Mainz, Valencia, and Jyväskylä, UBE houses world-class research laboratories in photonics and materials (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Carnot de Bourgogne - ICB), food science and taste perception (Centre des Sciences du Goût et de l'Alimentation - CSGA), automotive and transport engineering (ISAT in Nevers), viticulture (Institut Universitaire de la Vigne et du Vin Jules Guyot), and life sciences (Biogéosciences).
