About Ulster University
Ulster University (Ollscoil Uladh) is a multi-campus public research university situated across Northern Ireland. Tracing its foundations through historic predecessors—including the Belfast School of Art (1849), Magee College in Derry (1865), and the New University of Ulster in Coleraine (1968)—the modern university was established in 1984 through a landmark Royal Charter amalgamation. As the largest university in Northern Ireland by student population, Ulster University is internationally celebrated for biomedical sciences and stratified medicine, global peace and conflict resolution through INCORE, creative industries via the Belfast School of Art, pioneering hydrogen safety engineering at HySAFER, and its transformative £370 million urban vertical campus in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter.
