Tokai University (東海大学 Tōkai Daigaku), founded in 1942 by Dr. Shigeyoshi Matsumae, is one of Japan's largest and most distinguished private comprehensive research universities. Spanning 7 modern campuses across Kanagawa (Shonan, Isehara), Tokyo (Shinagawa), Shizuoka (Shimizu), Kumamoto (Kumamoto City, Aso Rinku), and Hokkaido (Sapporo), the university encompasses 23 faculties with 62 departments and 17 graduate research schools. Tokai University is globally celebrated for cutting-edge engineering, aerospace, robotics, marine science (operating the state-of-the-art oceanic research vessel Bosei Maru), sports science (producing numerous Olympic medalists), and advanced medicine with its university hospital system.
