About Southern Cross University
Established in 1994 and named after the iconic celestial constellation, Southern Cross University (SCU) is a progressive, multi-campus Australian public university renowned for world-class research in environmental science, marine biology, nursing, allied health, regenerative agriculture, and business. SCU pioneers the innovative "Southern Cross Model"—a modern, student-centric academic framework structuring learning into focused six-week immersive study blocks rather than conventional overloaded semesters. Operating across vibrant campuses in the sub-tropical rainforest setting of Lismore (foundational campus), the oceanfront campus at Gold Coast (Bilinga, adjacent to Coolangatta beach and Gold Coast Airport), and the coastal innovation precinct at Coffs Harbour (home to the National Marine Science Centre), SCU provides world-class education and personalized support to over 20,000 students from more than 60 countries.
