About Sorbonne Université
Sorbonne Université is one of the world's most renowned, prestigious, and research-intensive public universities, tracing its roots to 1257 when Robert de Sorbon founded the Collège de Sorbonne. Re-established on January 1, 2018 through the historic merger of Paris-Sorbonne University (Paris IV, the world-famous home of arts, humanities, and languages) and Pierre and Marie Curie University (UPMC / Paris VI, Europe's foremost scientific and medical powerhouse), Sorbonne Université represents the pinnacle of multidisciplinary higher education. Organized into three collegiate faculties—the Faculty of Science and Engineering (based on the iconic Campus Pierre et Marie Curie in Jussieu), the Faculty of Letters and Humanities (anchored in the historic Latin Quarter Sorbonne seat), and the Faculty of Medicine (headquartered at the world-class Pitié-Salpêtrière and Saint-Antoine university hospital networks)—Sorbonne Université educates over 55,000 students, including more than 10,000 international scholars. Home to 33 Nobel Prize laureates and 6 Fields Medalists (including Pierre and Marie Curie, Henri Poincaré, Jean Perrin, and Cédric Villani), the university is ranked among the top 35-45 universities globally and #1-3 in France. As a key driving force of the 4EU+ European University Alliance and the Paris Center for Quantum Technologies (PCQC), Sorbonne Université delivers transformative education, cutting-edge discoveries, and unmatched cultural richness in the heart of Paris.
