About Sheffield Hallam University

Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) is one of the United Kingdom's largest, most progressive, and most dynamic public universities, educating over 31,500 students from more than 120 nations. Tracing its heritage to the founding of the Sheffield School of Design in 1843—established to support the city's world-renowned manufacturing and metallurgical industries—and the subsequent formation of Sheffield Polytechnic in 1969, the institution gained full university status by Royal Assent in 1992. Today, Sheffield Hallam operates across two vibrant campuses: the cutting-edge City Campus located at the heart of Sheffield directly adjacent to Sheffield Railway Station, and the leafy, historic Collegiate Campus situated in the Broomhall conservation quarter. The university is widely celebrated for its career-focused education, embedding work placements, real-world consultancy projects, and enterprise mentoring into every undergraduate and postgraduate course. Sheffield Hallam is proud to be named University of the Year for Teaching Quality by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide. The university's Sheffield Business School holds prestigious AACSB international accreditation, placing it among the top 6% of business schools worldwide. In addition, Sheffield Hallam is the UK's leading provider of healthcare professionals, training thousands of nurses, midwives, paramedics, physiotherapists, and diagnostic radiographers in world-class clinical simulation suites. With its world-leading Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, cutting-edge computing and engineering facilities, and the historic Sheffield Institute of Arts (SIA), Sheffield Hallam combines 180 years of civic heritage with pioneering 21st-century applied research.
