Founded in 1920 under the auspices of the Latvian Red Cross as the historic School of Sisters of Mercy (Žēlsirdīgo māsu skola) to care for the wounded and pioneer modern healthcare education, the Red Cross Medical College of Riga Stradiņš University (Rīgas Stradiņa universitātes Sarkanā Krusta medicīnas koledža / RSU SKMK) is one of Northern Europe and the Baltic region’s most distinguished applied health sciences institutions. Operating as an autonomous college agency integrated with Latvia’s leading medical research institution, Riga Stradiņš University (RSU), the College offers European Qualifications Framework (EQF Level 5) Short-Cycle / 1st Level Professional Higher Education diplomas (2 to 3 years) alongside accredited vocational secondary healthcare qualifications.
