About RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences
The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences – Coláiste Ríoga na Máinleá in Éirinn), founded by Royal Charter of King George III in 1784, is Ireland's exclusive world-leading health sciences university and professional surgical training institution. Centred on Dublin's iconic St Stephen's Green and York Street, RCSI is solely dedicated to educating and training healthcare professionals and clinical leaders. With over 4,000 students representing more than 60 countries, RCSI delivers an intensely international medical training ecosystem. As a Recognised College of the National University of Ireland (NUI) with independent statutory degree-awarding authority, RCSI confers medical, pharmacy, physiotherapy, advanced therapeutics, and doctoral degrees that hold gold-standard worldwide recognition (including the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia, and Singapore). The university houses Europe's largest, most technologically advanced clinical simulation centre at 26 York Street—a €80m architectural marvel featuring simulated emergency departments, fully equipped operating theatres, hospital wards, and mock outpatient suites. RCSI researchers lead pioneering discoveries in vascular biology, oncology, neuroscience, regenerative medicine, and global surgical care. Non-EU graduates benefit directly from Ireland's Third Level Graduate Scheme (Stamp 1G post-study work visa: 1 year for Honours Bachelor and 2 years for Master's/PhD graduates), facilitating prestigious hospital internships and healthcare careers worldwide.
