About NLA University College
NLA University College (NLA Høgskolen) is an accredited private, specialized university college in Norway, founded in Bergen in 1968. Combining academic rigor with a strong values-based heritage, NLA provides higher education and research across three major urban centers: Bergen (Sandviken & Kalfaret), Oslo (Pilestredet park 33), and Kristiansand (Gimlekollen). NLA educates approximately 2,800 students across accredited bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes spanning Teacher Education, Early Childhood Pedagogy, Journalism and Media Communication, Music Performance and Songwriting, Intercultural Studies, Theology and Religion, and Economics and Administration. Historically renowned for integrating Mediehøgskolen Gimlekollen (Norway’s premier Christian journalism academy in Kristiansand) and Staffeldtsgate Musikkhøgskole in Oslo, NLA offers a uniquely close-knit learning community where students receive direct mentoring from faculty scholars. As a state-subsidized private institution accredited by NOKUT, NLA degree programmes are fully recognized for state educational support through Statens Lånekasse, and the college collaborates actively in international Erasmus+ and Nordplus academic networks.
