About Middlesex University
Middlesex University (commonly known as MDX or Middlesex University London) is a progressive public research and technological institution located in Hendon, within the London Borough of Barnet, North London. Tracing its lineage back to 1878 with the founding of St Katherine's College (and the subsequent union of Hornsey College of Art and Hendon Technical Institute to form Middlesex Polytechnic in 1973), the institution was formally granted university title in 1992. Today, Middlesex University is celebrated as one of the UK capital's most globally connected and forward-looking universities, educating over 20,000 students at its London campus and more than 30,000 worldwide across branch campuses in Dubai (opened 2005) and Mauritius (opened 2009). The university has invested over £200 million to consolidate its London operations into a magnificent, single-site flagship campus in Hendon. The campus seamlessly blends the historic neo-Georgian College Building (dating to 1939) with cutting-edge 21st-century architectural masterpieces: the soaring glass-canopied Rickett Quadrangle atrium, the £18 million Ritterman Building (housing Europe's largest university living bio-wall, humanoid robotics research labs, and an industry-grade Cyber Security Operations Centre), the £80 million Grove Building for creative arts and 4K film studios, the Hatchcroft biomedical and environmental laboratories, and the 24/7 Sheppard Library. Middlesex is renowned for high graduate employability, innovative industry partnerships with Google, Microsoft, and the NHS, and an exceptionally diverse student body representing more than 140 nations.
