About Mary Immaculate College
Mary Immaculate College (MIC – Coláiste Mhuire gan Smál), founded in 1898, is Ireland’s premier university-level College of Education and the Liberal Arts. Academically linked with the University of Limerick (UL)—which confers all MIC undergraduate and postgraduate awards—MIC educates over 5,000 students across two vibrant campuses: the flagship South Circular Road campus in Limerick city and the historic St Patrick’s Campus in Thurles, County Tipperary. Renowned as a national centre of excellence for primary and post-primary teacher education, humanities, social sciences, psychology, and early childhood studies, MIC combines nine consecutive decades of teacher training prestige with innovative research across its Faculty of Education and Faculty of Arts. The college boasts the acclaimed 510-seat Lime Tree Theatre, the state-of-the-art Tailteann Sports & Fitness Complex, high-tech micro-teaching suites, early childhood research centres, and the John Henry Newman building. Non-EU international students enjoy an exceptionally welcoming collegiate atmosphere, small class sizes, world-class pedagogical mentorship, and full eligibility for Ireland’s Third Level Graduate Scheme (Stamp 1G post-study work visa: 1 year for Honours Bachelor and 2 years for Master’s/Doctoral graduates).
