About Leeds Beckett University
Leeds Beckett University is a major public university located in the dynamic economic and cultural metropolis of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Tracing its heritage to the founding of the Leeds Mechanics Institute in 1824, the institution was awarded university status in 1992 (originally as Leeds Metropolitan University) before adopting the name Leeds Beckett University in 2014 in honour of Beckett Park. Educating over 28,000 students across two distinctive campuses—the bustling City Campus in central Leeds and the historic 100-acre greenfield Headingley Campus—Leeds Beckett combines academic rigor with high-impact vocational employability. The university is internationally acclaimed for the Carnegie School of Sport—one of the world's premier institutes for sports science, coaching, and athletic performance—alongside the Leeds Business School situated in the award-winning Rose Bowl, the £45 million Leeds School of Arts building, Leeds Law School, and accredited engineering, computing, and built environment programs.
