About Korea University
Korea University (고려대학교 / KU) is one of South Korea’s oldest, most prestigious, and globally recognized private research universities, founded in 1905 as Bosung College by Lee Yong-ik, Treasurer of the Royal Household. As a founding member of the elite "SKY" trio (Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University), Korea University has educated many of the nation’s political, judicial, business, and academic leaders. Operating under the institutional philosophy of Libertas, Justitia, Veritas ("Liberty, Justice, and Truth") and represented by the Crimson Tiger (호랑이), KU is renowned for the Korea University Business School (KUBS) (South Korea’s first business school, holding dual AACSB and EQUIS accreditations), the College of Law / School of Law, the College of Medicine and its three tertiary university hospitals, the School of Cybersecurity, and the 100% English-taught Division of International Studies (DIS). The university operates an urban main campus in Anam-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, renowned for 19th-century Gothic Revival stone architecture centered around the Central Plaza (Jung-gwang) and the landmark Main Hall (Historic Site No. 285), alongside a dedicated regional branch campus in Sejong Special Self-Governing City specializing in public administration, pharmacy, and convergence technologies. Campus facilities include the Central Digital Library, LG-POSCO Business Hall, Hyundai Motor Hall, Hana Science Hall, Med-Science Park, and state-of-the-art international residential complexes including CJ International House, Anam Global House, and Frontier House, directly serviced by Anam Station and Korea University Station on Seoul Subway Line 6.
