About King's College London
King's College London (KCL) is one of the world's most prestigious public research universities and the fourth-oldest university in England, founded in 1829 by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington. A founding constituent college of the federal University of London and an elite member of the Russell Group, King's has played a defining role in shaping modern higher education, scientific discovery, and global public policy. The university has educated or been home to 14 Nobel laureates, world leaders, pioneers in science, law, and literature including Virginia Woolf, Florence Nightingale, Rosalind Franklin (whose X-ray crystallography discovered the double-helix structure of DNA at King's), Maurice Wilkins, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Sir Michael Howard. King's comprises nine distinguished academic faculties: Arts & Humanities, The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's Business School, Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES), Life Sciences & Medicine, Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences, Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), and Social Science & Public Policy (SSPP). Spanning five central London campuses—Strand, Guy's, Waterloo, St Thomas', and Denmark Hill—King's offers unmatched immersion in London's intellectual, cultural, legal, and financial capital, serving over 33,000 students from more than 150 countries worldwide.
