About Kindai University
Kindai University (近畿大学 - Kinki Daigaku, colloquially known as "Kindai") is one of Western Japan's largest and most innovative comprehensive private research universities, established in 1925 in Higashiosaka, Osaka Prefecture, through the unification of Osaka Technical College and Osaka Kinki University. Kindai is the premier institution of Kansai's renowned "San-Kin-Ko-Ryu" (Kyoto Sangyo, Kindai, Konan, and Ryukoku) university consortium and has achieved nationwide prominence by ranking #1 in Japan for the highest number of general entrance examination applicants for more than a decade (consistently surpassing 150,000 annual applicants). The university operates across 6 major campuses across Western Japan: 1. Higashiosaka Flagship Campus (東大阪キャンパス): Located in Higashiosaka, Osaka, housing 10 undergraduate faculties including Law, Economics, Business Administration, Science and Engineering, Architecture, Informatics (AI and Data Science), Pharmacy, Literature/Arts/Cultural Studies, Applied Sociology, and International Studies, alongside the cutting-edge "Academic Theater" learning commons complex. 2. Nara Campus (奈良キャンパス): Situated in Nakamachi, Nara, home to the internationally acclaimed Faculty of Agriculture, housing leading laboratories in agribusiness, food science, and fisheries science. 3. Osaka-Sayama Campus (大阪狭山キャンパス): Medical center campus in Osakasayama, Osaka, housing the Faculty of Medicine, Graduate School of Medicine, and the 900+ bed Kindai University Hospital. 4. Wakayama Campus (和歌山キャンパス): Located in Kinokawa, Wakayama, dedicated to the Faculty of Biology-Oriented Science and Technology (BOST), advancing biomedical engineering, genetic engineering, and biotechnology. 5. Hiroshima Campus (広島キャンパス): In Higashihiroshima, housing the Faculty of Engineering with robotics, electronic systems, and architecture laboratories. 6. Fukuoka Campus (福岡キャンパス): In Iizuka, Fukuoka (Kyushu), housing the Faculty of Humanity-Oriented Science and Engineering. Kindai is celebrated worldwide for pioneering the world's first complete closed-cycle artificial aquaculture breeding of Pacific bluefin tuna (Kindai Tuna / 近大マグロ) at its Shirahama and Kushimoto Fisheries Laboratories. For international students, Kindai offers dedicated English-taught undergraduate degree tracks (such as the Global Studies Major in the Faculty of International Studies) and extensive English-medium Master's and PhD research opportunities in Science & Engineering, Informatics, and Agriculture/Fisheries, supported by generous tuition waivers (up to 50% reduction) and MEXT scholarships.
