About Joseph Haydn Private University Burgenland (Joseph Haydn Privatuniversität Burgenland — JHP)
Evolving from the prestigious Joseph Haydn Conservatory (founded in 1971) and officially accredited as a private music university in 2023, Joseph Haydn Private University Burgenland (JHP) is the premier tertiary musical and artistic education institution in the Austrian province of Burgenland. Situated in Eisenstadt—the historic epicenter of classical music where Joseph Haydn served as Kapellmeister for the Esterházy princes for over three decades—JHP offers Bologna-compliant Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master of Arts (MA) degree programs across artistic performance (Klassik, Jazz & Popular Music, Composition) and artistic-pedagogical training (IGP - Instrumental- und Gesangspädagogik). With an intimate student community of roughly 300 students, highly distinguished faculty mentors, exceptional practice and acoustical infrastructure, and direct performance opportunities in the legendary Haydnsaal of Schloss Esterházy, JHP combines centuries-old Austrian classical traditions with modern pedagogy, artistic innovation, and an affordable, state-subsidized tuition fee structure.
