About Jeonbuk National University
Jeonbuk National University (전북대학교 / JBNU) is a premier flagship public research university located in Jeonju, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province (Jeollabuk-do), South Korea. Founded in 1947 following Korea's liberation, JBNU is one of South Korea's 10 Flagship Korean National Universities (거점국립대학교 - KNU 10). Selected for the South Korean government's prestigious Glocal University 30 initiative with 100 billion KRW in long-term development funding, JBNU is an internationalization hub aiming to attract more than 5,000 overseas scholars. Integrating cutting-edge technology with Jeonju's status as the historic heart of Korean culture, JBNU is celebrated for its distinctive Hanok (traditional Korean wooden architecture) campus landmarks—including the monumental main gate (Jinjihangmun) and Hanok international convention hall—as well as national leadership in agricultural and life sciences, veterinary medicine, carbon nano-materials and semiconductor convergence, hydrogen and future mobility engineering, clinical medicine (1,200+ bed Jeonbuk National University Hospital), and international cooperation studies (School of International Studies - TSIS). JBNU operates its central Jeonju Main Campus alongside its specialized Iksan Campus (housing the College of Veterinary Medicine and College of Environmental & Bioresource Sciences).
