About Durham University
Durham University is a prestigious collegiate public research university in Durham, North East England, and a proud member of the elite Russell Group. Founded by an Act of Parliament in 1832 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1837, Durham is traditionally recognized as England’s third-oldest established university alongside Oxford and Cambridge. Operating on a distinctive historic collegiate model across 17 residential colleges, students live and study in a medieval UNESCO World Heritage site, including University College where undergraduates reside inside an authentic 11th-century Norman castle. The university is globally celebrated for archaeology (#6 worldwide), theology and religious studies (#6 worldwide), classics and ancient history (#8 worldwide), law, physics and cosmology (the Institute for Computational Cosmology and Ogden Centre), geography, and elite executive business education via the triple-accredited (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS) Durham University Business School.
