Established in 2009 under the auspices of the Heracles-Hebe Foundation and formally accredited by the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria (AQ Austria) pursuant to the Austrian Private Higher Education Act (PrivHG), Danube Private University (Danube Private University — DPU) is Austria's premier private university dedicated exclusively to medical sciences, dentistry, dental hygiene, and medical communications. Nestled in the UNESCO World Heritage Wachau cultural landscape in Krems an der Donau (Stein quarter), DPU operates state-of-the-art clinical teaching facilities, including its proprietary University Dental Outpatient Clinic (Zahnambulatorium Krems), the modern campus Neubau complex at Förthofstraße, specialized research laboratories in Loiben, and a cutting-edge Medical High-Fidelity Simulation Center (SIM-Zentrum). Clinical clerkships and bedside human medical rotations are conducted in close collaboration with the Lower Austrian State Health Agency (NÖ Landesgesundheitsagentur — LGA) across teaching hospitals including Landesklinikum Wiener Neustadt, Neunkirchen, and Hochegg. DPU pioneered the first private degree course in dental medicine (Dr. med. dent.) in Austria, alongside its fully accredited consecutive Master's pathway in Human Medicine (Dr. med. univ.), scientific PhD doctoral tracks in Dental Medicine and Precision & Personalized Medicine, and unique interdisciplinary programs in Medical Journalism and Public Relations. Operating without public state operating subsidies, DPU adheres to European Union-wide medical accreditation standards while fostering exceptional student-to-professor ratios, personalized clinical mentorship, and early surgical patient exposure.
