About Daejeon University
Daejeon University (대전대학교 - DJU) is a prestigious private comprehensive research university located in Daejeon Metropolitan City—South Korea's high-tech science and innovation capital. Founded in 1980 by the Hyehwa Educational Foundation under the guiding philosophy of 'Nation Building through Education, Righteous Humanity, and Creative Intellect', Daejeon University has evolved into a powerhouse for Oriental Medicine, Healthcare Sciences, Advanced Engineering, and Public Safety. DJU is renowned nationally as home to one of South Korea's premier Colleges of Korean Medicine (한의과대학), operating four affiliated university hospitals in Dunsan, Cheonan, Cheongju, and Seoul, alongside the Dunsan Medical Campus clinical trial and East-West integrative medicine centers. DJU made national history in 2003 by establishing South Korea's very first four-year Department of Military Studies (군사학과) in direct partnership with the Republic of Korea Army Headquarters, training top-tier commissioned military officers. Across its scenic 120-acre hillside Yongun Main Campus, designed by celebrated architect Min Hyun-sik, the university features award-winning landmarks including the Hyehwa Cultural Center (MACC), the iconic Dragon Bowl amphitheater plaza, and the Jisan Central Library. DJU is a selected host institution for the Ministry of Education's LINC 3.0 (Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation) project and is KABONE-accredited for its premier College of Nursing, delivering globally recognized education to thousands of domestic and international scholars.
