About Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology
Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (대구경북과학기술원, DGIST) is one of South Korea's four prestigious national science and technology research universities—alongside KAIST, GIST, and UNIST—founded under a special act of the National Assembly and supported directly by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT). Established in 2004 in the heart of Daegu Technopolis at the base of Mount Biseul, DGIST opened its graduate degree programs in 2011 and launched its groundbreaking non-departmental undergraduate College of Transdisciplinary Studies in 2014. DGIST is celebrated internationally for pioneering a single-school undergraduate curriculum with no declared majors, the mandatory Undergraduate Group Research Program (UGRP), and world-leading research institutes in Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Microrobotics (with ETH Zurich), Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Next-Generation Energy Materials, and Plant Aging (IBS). Because of its national strategic role, DGIST provides comprehensive full government scholarships covering 100% of tuition and monthly living research stipends for admitted domestic and international scholars.
