About Communication University of China
Communication University of China (中国传媒大学 / CUC), colloquially known as Zhongchuan (中传), is the preeminent national public university for media, broadcasting, journalism, digital arts, and telecommunication in China. Established in 1954 as the Central Broadcasting Bureau Trainees Class, the institution became the Beijing Broadcasting Institute (北京广播学院 / BBI) in 1959 before adopting its current name in 2004. Directly administered by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, CUC is a national Double First-Class university and a former key member of Project 211. Widely revered across Asia as the 'cradle of China’s radio, television, and media talent,' CUC consistently ranks #1 nationwide in Journalism and Communication Studies as well as Drama, Film, and Television Studies. CUC has educated the vast majority of China's celebrated national television anchors, investigative journalists, documentary producers, animation creators, sound designers, and media executives, while serving as a strategic think-tank for state media policy, digital convergence, and international communication. Spanning over 460,000 square meters in Chaoyang District, Beijing, the urban campus features the Media Museum of China, 4K/8K ultra-HD broadcast studios, Dolby Atmos audio mixing stages, motion-capture and 3D CGI rendering farms, television editing suites, a 1,500-seat multi-purpose theater, and dedicated international student residential facilities.
