About Chung-Ang University
Chung-Ang University (중앙대학교, CAU) is a premier private comprehensive research university based in Seoul and Anseong, South Korea. Originating in 1916 as the Chung-Ang Kindergarten and re-founded in 1933 by pioneering educator and political leader Dr. Louise Yim (임영신), CAU achieved full university status in 1953 and expanded rapidly under the governance integration of multinational industrial leader Doosan Group in 2008. CAU is globally celebrated as the indisputable "Cradle of the Korean Wave (Hallyu)", with its legendary Department of Theatre and Department of Film producing South Korea's most celebrated filmmakers, Oscar-winning cinematographers, and global screen icons. Alongside its performing arts supremacy, Chung-Ang University operates one of South Korea's most prestigious colleges of pharmacy, an AACSB-accredited college of business and economics, a designated National AI Graduate School, and an integrated tertiary clinical network anchored by Chung-Ang University Hospital in Seoul and Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital.
