About British Columbia Institute of Technology - Aerospace Technology (BCIT)
The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Aerospace Technology Campus (ATC) is Canada’s premier post-secondary aviation and aerospace training facility, located on Sea Island in Richmond, British Columbia, immediately adjacent to the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) South Terminal. Operating under the British Columbia College and Institute Act, BCIT confers nationally accredited diplomas, applied certificates, and post-diploma credentials recognized by Transport Canada (TC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Spanning 285,000 square feet, the campus is centred on a landmark 40,000-square-foot acoustic glass-walled hangar housing a live training fleet of over 20 fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft—including a Boeing 737, light piston trainers, corporate jets, and turbine helicopters. The campus features state-of-the-art flight training devices mimicking the Boeing 737 MAX and De Havilland Dash 8-Q400, gas turbine overhaul laboratories, precision avionics testing suites, wind tunnels, and non-destructive testing (NDT) bays. Serving over 1,500 students in aircraft maintenance engineering (AME Categories M, E, and S), commercial flight operations, airport management, and unmanned aerial systems, BCIT Aerospace supplies qualified technical leadership to international commercial carriers, aerospace manufacturers, and airport authorities worldwide.
