About Alma College
Alma College is a distinguished private liberal arts college located in Alma, Michigan. Founded in 1886 by Michigan Presbyterians and maintaining an affiliation with the Presbyterian Church (USA), Alma College provides a transformative educational experience centered on personalized faculty mentorship, rigorous academic inquiry, and world-renowned Scottish heritage traditions. With an undergraduate and graduate enrollment of approximately 1,400 students and a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio, Alma combines traditional liberal arts education with high-demand professional programs in nursing (CCNE-accredited BSN), pre-health sciences, business, education (CAEP-accredited), engineering, and low-residency graduate studies. Alma is celebrated for signature institutional programs including the Alma Commitment—a four-year graduation guarantee covering remaining tuition if graduation is delayed by course scheduling—and the Alma Venture, which guarantees up to $2,000 in direct experiential funding for every student to pursue off-campus internships, research, clinical fellowships, or international study. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and fields 24 NCAA Division III athletic teams competing in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).
