About academyEX
academyEX is an innovative, purpose-driven private postgraduate tertiary education institute based in Auckland, New Zealand. Founded in 2013 by celebrated education futurist and technologist Frances Valintine CNZM—initially launching as The Mind Lab and expanding through Tech Futures Lab and Earth Futures Lab before unifying under the academyEX banner in 2022—it stands as New Zealand’s only dedicated private postgraduate training establishment (PTE). Accredited as a prestigious Category 1 Tertiary Education Organisation by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and awarded official FernMark licensing, academyEX specializes in future-focused professional qualifications. The institute is internationally recognized for its applied, project-based curriculum spanning emerging technologies (AI, IoT, automation, big data), organizational resilience, sustainable transformation, contemporary educational leadership, and stackable micro-credentials. Operating from a collaborative open-concept learning complex at 99 Khyber Pass Road in Grafton, Auckland, academyEX functions as an innovation accelerator where students collaborate alongside practicing industry leaders, founders, and public-sector change directors, with graduates qualifying for New Zealand's 3-year Post-Study Work Visa (PSWV).
