Are you from Bangladesh? You might need a student visa…
Don’t worry, everything is under control. We’re here to make your journey toward studying in Malaysia a smooth one. Here’s what you need to know and do:
Check if you really need a student visa
Since you’re from Bangladesh and planning to pursue full-time academic studies in Malaysia, yes, you will definitely need a student visa.
Start exploring official Malaysian visa information
For Bangladeshi students, visa applications are usually handled through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), in coordination with the Malaysian Embassy in Dhaka. This is where you’ll find the most accurate and updated guidelines.
Check the deadlines
The visa process can take several weeks. Missing a deadline or forgetting a required document can delay your visa approval — and that could mean missing the start of your academic program.
Prepare your paperwork carefully
Here’s what you’ll typically need:
A valid passport
An official acceptance letter from a recognized Malaysian educational institution
A completed visa application form (usually submitted via the EMGS online system)
Recent passport-size photographs
Proof of accommodation arrangements in Malaysia
Evidence of sufficient financial support
Academic transcripts and relevant certificates
Proof of English language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent)
A medical examination report from a clinic approved by EMGS
A Visa Approval Letter (VAL) issued by EMGS
A motivation letter or interview confirmation, if requested

You must show proof that you can cover your tuition fees, living expenses, visa application charges, and daily costs during your stay in Malaysia.
Improve your English skills
Most academic programmes in Malaysia are taught in English. Strong English skills will help you succeed in your studies, adjust to life in Malaysia, and possibly meet language requirements for your visa or university admission.
Getting your Malaysian student visa might seem like a big process, but it’s a key step toward an exciting new chapter in your life.
Stay prepared, stay focused and best of luck!

Work While Studying in Malaysia
If you’re an international student, you may need to follow specific work conditions depending on your visa type and study level.
| How can I apply? International students in Malaysia are allowed to work under certain conditions. You do not need a separate work permit, but you must obtain approval from the Immigration Department of Malaysia through your institution. |
